Peter Wright Music Teaching: Piano & Saxophone

Photo of Peter

I’m a music teacher, specialising in piano and saxophone, and I teach from home in Crowthorne (near Wokingham) in Berkshire.

I have a friendly and informal style, and a holistic teaching philosophy that is designed to nurture the musician in every pupil—not just focussing on playing the instrument, but also on listening and understanding. I use an interest-based approach, and so the lessons are naturally tailored to my pupils’ needs.

I am familiar with the ABRSM exam syllabuses, and I can help prepare for grade exams if desired, however this is absolutely not required, and I never put pressure on my pupils—to do this, or anything else. My aim is to help music fulfil whatever role in your life you want it to.

I teach a variety of styles, encompassing classical, pop and jazz, and I am able to teach soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones. My lessons are given at my home in Crowthorne, where I have a dedicated music room with an acoustic upright piano. Although theory is integrated into my instrumental teaching, I can also do dedicated music theory lessons, and I can help pupils prepare for music theory exams if desired.

I charge £19 per 30-minute lesson, however I can give longer or short lessons on a pro rata basis.

“The way you taught was so interesting and engaging, and it had a massive impact on me—the whole thing with playing pop/rock songs and bringing music theory alive. I’m not quite sure music would have quite the significance in my life now without your lessons!”—Former Pupil
“Peter has taught my Daughter piano for several years now. He is an excellent teacher and covers a broad range of Music styles. He’s encouraging, understanding and motivating. She thoroughly enjoys her lessons with Peter and has made brilliant progress.”—Parent
